Malaysia - day 3: 30 April

Still under the 5 hours jet lag, we slept late and woke up late, just in time to get the breakfast at the hotel.

Unexpectedly but gladly, our missing bag was delivered around 11:30.

Quickly searched for a bookstore to buy "Birds of Malaysia". The times book store didn't have it 😢!

Ready to travel to Penang.

Check-out, and we went to have lunch in Celadon Thai restaurant in Pavilion mall, just 5 min away from our hotel.

Our taxi driver picked up us at 15:45 in front of our hotel.

A short detour by KLCC Park to take few pictures of the Petronas towers and we were on our way to Penang.

The road is busy, but traffic is fluid, despite numerous departures from Kuala Lumpur towards the province, from people leaving the town to join their relatives and celebrate Eidh, the end of Ramadan.

On the way, km2 of palm 🌴 oil trees that have replaced the native south east Asian tropical forest.

Managed to record few birds along the highway

and start my checklist for Malaysia. I do already have some records from Malaysia, not yet input in Ebird though, from a previous trip several years ago.

23:00, we finally reached our destination, the bayview beach resort, Batu Ferringhi on Penang Island. The taxi course costed us 650 RM.

Resto and bat at our hotel are already closed. Quick diner in a small local restaurant other side of the street facing our hotel. No beers there, as this is a Muslim restaurant, but the food is excellent: spicy grilled fish with steamed vegetables and rice.
